Gazetteer of Place Names from chapter 5, "The Road to Concord" from Peter Frankopan's "The Silk Roads." The place names in this chapter reflect the growing development of Islam in the Middle East and its expansion into Central Asia. Places of both success and failure are examined, with special attention to the city of Baghdad as a high point for the Islamic world. The growing expansion and connection of the empire is demonstrated in this chapter through places as far apart as Scandinavia and the Iberian peninsula.
